Working on
The main thing I’ve been working on this week is my website: nicolebergenart.com
It’s a creative meandering experience and you’re welcome to stop by anytime.
I created it as a place to share my work and any facet of myself that I want without having the needs of “the algorithm” in the back of my mind! A place to be more free on the internet than Instagram allows and just be a weird, whole human.
Zuzu/Eli Trier talked about “idiosyncrasy as resistance” in her last video, and I thought, “hey, I can do that!”
And also, gouache portraits & figures with Draw Brighton, as usual. This is the model Mariana and she’s incredible.

Reading
The Fauves by Nathalia Brodskaia. I got it from the library and loved it so much I found a used copy on eBay!
Elaine de Kooning: Portraits by Brandon Brame Fortune. Also found on eBay. I love art books so much but they’re so expensive (thank god for libraries).
Listening to
I binged the entirety of botanical studies of internet magic by Kening Zhu in about three days. Then I listened to it all again!
She’s also absolutely brilliant at naming things. Just check out the list of her episode titles!
Thinking About
Analogue media and digital creativity. I want a way to be my whole creative self online without having to consider a tech bro at any point in the process. More on analogue media later!
