We do owe each other something. Caring for people is a prerequisite for living in my little world.
I’m not sure exactly what this page will look like, but one of the things I do on Instagram is keep an eye on the work of human rights and environmental justice organisations, among others. I do want people to know where I stand on certain issues and I need to find ways to keep updated about things I care about without social media (newsletters!).
For instance, I’ve been calling the atrocities in Gaza ethnic cleansing since well before October 7, 2023 and a genocide since I read Amnesty International’s report “Israel/Occupied Palestinian Territory: ‘You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza“.
I’ll add to this page eventually, but in the meantime, suffice to say, I’m a fan of:
- human rights (including trans rights and Indigenous rights)
- environmental protection (including water rights and protection and Indigenous stewardship and sovereignty)
- some sort of overhaul of the legal (I can’t call it justice) system
- black lives mattering to everyone
- most struggles that I’m aware of against the multinational corporations that are trying to control everything from seed saving to surveillance
- civil rights and liberties, including online
and all manner of grassroots, community-centred, and Indigenous-led initiatives. I’m probably forgetting many things right now, but I’ll add to this non-exhaustive list later.
